You will receive a security certificate with your booking for your peace of mind.

DRSF protection is sufficient under the 2018 UK Package Travel Regulations and has been reviewed and confirmed by our UK legal representatives.

International flights are not typically included in the tour price. This gives you the flexibility to choose the airline, cabin class and departure airport that best suits your plans.

When you enquire or book with us, we'll proactively recommend the best flight options for your chosen tour, including suitable routes, airlines and departures from both London and regional UK airports where available. Most travellers choose to reserve their place on the tour first and then book their flights with our guidance.

Your guide is your first escalation point and can usually assist in the majority of circumstances but if you need to escalate an issue that your guide cannot assist with, we offer 24/7 support via phone and email; emergency contact information will be provided in your travel documents.

We recommend you to apply for a travel cancellation insurance (in case of accident or illness) and an international health insurance for the trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our pricing but is strongly recommended.

Chinese crime is mostly harmless for tourists. Crimes like physical or verbal assaults or armed robbery, are very rare compared to Germany or France. However, you should take care of your valuables as thefts happen frequently. Natural disasters are of course possible, but not very common. The last big earthquake was in Sichuan in 2008.

China's 1.4 billion people like to travel within their own country during the holidays, focusing mainly on the classic highlights, such as the Forbidden City or the Great Wall of China. We at China Tours avoid the crowds at least partially in two ways: First, we include Chinese holidays during the planning of our tours and try to avoid them. Secondly, we primarily head for non-touristy places whenever possible. We cannot completely avoid the crowds, so it is advisable to be prepared for many people during the major highlights and during rush hour.

Due to the partly high altitudes (over 5,000 m) on some pass roads, you should be in good physical condition at the beginning of the trip. The high altitudes can often cause short-term physical discomfort. To help your body adjust and avoid symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, etc., you should avoid great physical exertion and alcohol during the first few days. Drink at least two liters of water or tea daily and make sure to rest for longer periods of time. People suffering from high blood pressure and/or heart or respiratory diseases should talk to their doctor before the trip and take enough medication with them. Due to the lack of medical care in the mountains, you should bring medicines for possible problems, for example, aspirin or medicines for gastrointestinal problems. Keep in mind that it can get cold at high altitude, even in summer. You do not need any special equipment, but sturdy shoes and outdoor clothing are recommended.

China is a year-round destination. The best time to travel to most regions of China are the months of April to early June and September to around mid-November. During these periods, the weather conditions are most favorable for Central Europeans: pleasant temperatures and little rain.

Yes, on some trips. Where available, we offer options to extend your stay or add pre- and post-tour nights. Let us know your preferences and we’ll help arrange additional services where possible.

For traveling in a group, China Tours offers you two options: First, you can of course register together with a group for all China group tours. Provided that there are enough places available, nothing stands in the way of a booking.

Alternatively, especially for large groups, you have the option to book a China tour as a special group tour. Our special group department will create an individual trip according to your ideas and wishes - for clubs, companies or larger private groups. We will also be happy to work out itineraries with special thematic focuses or for specific events in China for you.

No. While we sell tours in multiple countries (i.e. Germany, France, United Kingdom, etc), we do not combine guests from those countries into a single departure. However, if, for instance, a German customer were to purchase from one of our UK sites (i.e. www.africaventura.co.uk as opposed to www.africaventura.de), nothing would stop them from doing so but the tour would be conducted in English.

We travel with small groups. Our trips always take place in a manageable framework. The group size is almost always between 8 and 20 people. This ensures individual attention at all times.

We intentionally keep our groups small to ensure a more personal and immersive experience. The vast majority of our tours have a maximum limit of 12 and on average our tours have around 9 travellers. However, a very small number of our trips allow up to 16 travellers.

Vaccinations are not mandatory in China unless you come from an epidemic area. Nevertheless, you should check your basic immunisation (tetanus, polio and diphtheria) before your trip and refresh it if necessary.
